Canal walks – Macclesfield and Peak Forest

A walk along the canal almost always involves taking pictures of the heron. He is a frequent visitor and I often see him posing.  On the odd occasion I don’t see him the ducks make a good substitute.

The Macclesfield canal can be a great place to pass a couple of hours.  There’s a decent coffee stop called Baileys Trading Post, which is near the Disley Sports Club, and if you fancy a sit down whilst you drink your coffee there’s a couple of benches nearby. Even better the owner is a friendly guy and the refreshments are pocket friendly prices.

There’s plenty of activity on the canal, it’s pretty and scenic and in some parts it seems more like a river due to the width of the waterway.

My personal preference is a week day walk as it’s quieter than at weekends.
