Welcome to my photography blog: Getting out and about, baking cakes for ‘occasions’ and taking photographs are things I really enjoy – sharing photographs on this blog is an extension of those interests.
Finding your way around the Blog: you can use the menus at the top or on the right hand side to navigate to the different categories – so for example if you want to see pictures of squirrels click on ‘nuts about squirrels’
Background: I’ve enjoyed taking photographs for many years, probably the sort of pictures that many of us like to take: holidays, birthdays, family outings, family occasions and so on. Over the years I’ve had a variety of compact cameras, my most recent was a nice Panasonic Lumix bought in 2016. Before that an excellent Canon G16 also bought in 2016, although it wasn’t a case of wanting to have two cameras the Lumix replaced the G16 that I had the misfortune to leave on a seaside bench in Fleetwood!
More recently my interest in photography has seen me move away from ‘compact’ cameras and I now use a Canon EOS M50, a mirrorless camera that brings DSLR technology in a wonderfully compact body. When I was looking around for a new camera I was pretty clear that something pretty lightweight, pretty compact and pretty good was what I was looking for – the M50 ticked all the boxes. To say I have enjoyed using it would be an understatement and I have added a number of EOS M lenses to my kit, including the fabulous EF-M 28mm f/3.5 Macro IS STM lens.
How things change: It doesn’t seem so long ago that if someone had said to me I would be loving getting out and about at every opportunity with my camera and know about Aperture, ISO and Shutter Speed let alone set up a photography Blog … I would have thought they were mad.
Macro photography has been a real revelation to me and the close up view of the world has been fantastic – you can go directly to my macro photographs by clicking here. Go direct to the latest posts by clicking here.
