Celebration cakes for special occasions. Zimbabwean cake

Just every now and again I get to bake and decorate a cake that’s quite different from the norm and is very much a ‘one off’. The cake I made for my Daughter in Law (my sons girlfriend at the time) was made to celebrate her birthday.

The cake recipe was my standard, tried and tested ‘birthday cake’ and the decorating was quite simple but effective and played back to her Zimbabwean heritage. Its a pretty straightforward idea and could easily be adapted for the colours/flags of different countries.
