For the first birthday of one of my grandsons I made a quick and easy ‘cat cake’. The colours were chosen as they were the same as one of the family cats (Jasper) that he was familiar with.

Although I refer to this as a quick and easy cake it doesn’t mean to say that it was any less a labour of love than some of the more intricate and time consuming cakes that I’ve made over the years. But in reality compared to say the Gruffalo cake or the Monkey in a bed cake this really is relatively quick and easy to decorate and is a simple design that would lend itself to a range of cake idea.
